Biography

François Niragire is Senior Lecturer of Applied Statistics at the University of Rwanda, College of Business and Economics, Department of Applied statistics. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied statistics (population and health), and a MSc. in Social statistics. He is currently College Director of Research and Innovation.

François Niragire has over 15 years of experience in teaching in higher education. Since his academic career in 2005, Dr. Niragire has made significant contributions to research, and teaching for both postgraduate and undergraduate programmes. 

He has facilitated many trainings and seminars on research methodology and communication. His current activities at University of Rwanda also involve the management of research and education projects as well as the supervision of both undergraduate, masters and doctoral research projects. 

His research interest focuses on population & health, statistical methods, spatial epidemiology, and economics of higher education. François Niragire has recently published in Plos One, Geospatial health, Global Health Action, and Cities and Health scientific journals. 

Dr. Niragire also provides consultancy services to diversified clients including public and private institutions, and nongovernmental Organizations. 

Dr. Niragire strives for transforming data into useful information and believes that computer programming is key to the analysis of big data.
